Here's What's Cookin'...

I have decided to act on God’s calling of my life, by taking my first longer-term missions trip to the Philippines. I will be gone for seven months as a volunteer for the International Mission Board. The program I will be working with is called Nehemiah Teams.

Nehemiah Teams are leading the next generation to reach every nation – standing in the gap among the unreached and hard to reach people of the world. Our goals include: partnering with local pastors and missionaries to plant churches in the unreached and hard to reach areas, discipling young people and raising up the next generation of missionaries.

What started as a small project in the mountains of Mindanao, has now extended to over eight different countries in the most unreached and hard to reach places. The problem now is manpower. There is only one missionary family whose entire responsibility is devoted to the project and they are simply spread too thin. They need help with this year’s crop. January 7th is my ideal exit date and when the family will be at their greatest need for reinforcements. While the teams are here, I will assist in orientation and debrief as well as traveling around to check in on them and make sure they stay on task. I will have preliminary contact with numerous unreached people groups (less than 2% evangelical) allowing me to offer a first ever look at the Gospel and an introduction to their loving and merciful Creator. I have been involved with Nehemiah Teams for four years now and served on their summer teams, twice in the Philippines and once in South Korea. I have seen and experienced some earth shattering miracles and been witness to hundreds of lost people coming to know their Savior.

I fell in love with it all four years ago and cannot break free of its captivating hold. International missions is undoubtedly my niche in life and a calling I am eager to embrace. However, it is not an easy path to follow and requires much sacrifice. I will be calling on friends, family, churches and other Christian organizations for their support at this time. I need to raise approximately 5,000 dollars to cover my travel, living and training expenses. Any contribution you or your organization can offer would be greatly appreciated. Contributions can be made by check (made out to Riva Trace Baptist Church) or cash and mailed to Riva Trace Baptist Church, 475 West Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD 21035. Contributions should be designated for Philippines Mission. Most importantly, I ask for your prayers – spiritual warfare is inevitable when you go charging at the gates of Hell.

Acts 20:24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.
